For years, the Los Angeles Harbor Area has been a battleground for gangs, violence, and mass incarcerations. The pervasive gang mentality has infiltrated not just the streets but the very essence of the community, perpetuating cycles of despair and destruction from one generation to the next.
"Arise & Go" was conceived to break this relentless cycle. We believe in meeting individuals where they are, accepting them wholly, and recognizing the struggles that have led them down the gang pathway. Our approach begins with acceptance, laying the foundation for inspiring profound changes in their hearts, minds, and souls.
At the core of our belief is the notion that true transformation springs from within, bolstered by the power of faith and guided by the biblical teachings of Jesus Christ. Javier Martinez's journey is the embodiment of "Arise & Go's" mission and vision. Born and raised in Harbor City, California, Javier is the son of Mexican immigrants. Despite a childhood enriched with sports, friendship, and family bonds, the omnipresent gang culture in his neighborhood exerted a powerful pull. Feeling an obligation to represent his community, Javier joined a local street gang, embarking on a 20-year odyssey filled with both the allure and the dire consequences of gang life.

Founder’s Story: Javier Martinez
In 2007, Javier's life took a pivotal turn when he surrendered to the saving grace of Jesus Christ. This profound spiritual awakening offered him a second chance—a chance to heal and rebuild relationships with his children and family. With his renewed perspective, Javier developed a fervent passion for transforming the lives of those ensnared by gang culture. His vision extended to fostering healthier, safer communities within the Los Angeles Harbor Area.
